NATD Contemporary Dance
Our NATD Contemporary Dance class is from 9yrs and explores various Contemporary styles and techniques to help build dance skills and performance qualities.
Contemporary Dance is all about expressing emotion through organic movements and unrestricted lines. Incorporating elements of lyrical Jazz, Ballet and Modern dance, contemporary is an exciting fusion that allows students to work through powerful and emotional routines. Your child will learn beginner to intermediate moves and put their practice into dynamic dance routines. Classes consist of a warm up, learning of set syllabus exercises, improvisation and creative dance routines, ending with a cool down and stretch. Students have the opportunity to take exams.
The NATD was the first awarding organisation to offer a graded syllabus, relating to the work of three pioneering choreographers of our time, Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham and Jose Limon. It employs contact work between dancers, release technique, fall and recovery, floorwork and improvisation, creative freedom and provides an excellent basic knowledge for pupils. We are pleased to say that since we introduced Contemporary to our timetable, we have a 100% pass rate for our students.
We facilitate a happy and fun environment for children to enjoy learning the arts and express themselves. As parents, we acknowledge the importance of you knowing what activities your child engages in. Parents are always invited to our ‘Watching Week’ at the end of the full term.
For all classes, parents are expected to drop off and collect. For our uniform requirements, please refer to our parent’s handbook and order at https://crazyaunt.co.uk/lwd

We look forward to meeting you and having the pleasure of teaching your child.
